Why is mowing more often is better than not mowing enough? Many people are busy and just not able to mow their yards enough. Usually when it is raining as much as it is right now, your lawn needs mowed at least once per week.
However, some people think they are saving themselves money by waiting to mow their lawn every 2 weeks, or some even 3 weeks. Bad idea! This produces piles of grass when you mow because you have allowed it to get way to tall, and those piles of grass sit around your lawn and sometimes kill of the grass under them. It is also a huge eye sore.
Do not mow to close. It is better to raise your mower height, and not mow so close. Some have the attitude that if they mow close, then they don’t have to mow as often. Yes, you are right, but you are also crazy. This will kill your lawn, and then you will find yourself either replacing your grass, or sod, or settling for a huge eye sore.
Some solution’s for this are to use a bagger on your mower, or do it the old fashioned way and rake up the piles of grass, then dump it somewhere. Mowing less is also hard on your mowing equipment, and adds more wear and tear. Of course, the best solution is to just mow once a week. Take some pride in your lawn and keep it looking nice.
If you don’t have time, then call your lawn care person and have them do it for you. This is a tax write off for you anyway, so just mow more often, and keep your property looking nice. This will keep your lawn healthy.
